KCC's strategic planning process involves input from college faculty and staff, as well as residents of the greater Kankakee area. Oversight is provided by the Strategic Planning Oversight Committee.
The planning framework was designed to support a two-pronged focus on supporting student success and community prosperity. It is aligned to the American Association of Community College’s (AACC) 21st Century Commission on the Future of Community Colleges’ recommendations.
Three key framework elements – college readiness, college completion, and closing the skills gap – combined with the overarching themes of advocacy, accountability, policy and investment, drove KCC’s strategic planning process and will guide the college’s implementation of the FY 2014-FY 2018 strategic plan.
A critical component of KCC’s most recent strategic planning process was development of the Environmental Scan for Strategic Planning (March 8, 2013), which provided:
- Perceptions and expectations of internal college and external community stakeholders
- Economic and workforce data analysis of the business, education, and labor market climate in KCC’s service area
