Accreditation and Reaffirmation of Accreditation

Accreditation

KCC is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission (HLC) which is a member of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools (NCA). KCC first completed a pre-accreditation application in 1968. In 1971, the college earned full accreditation under the Program to Evaluate and Advance Quality (PEAQ). In 2002, HLC approved KCC's application to convert from PEAQ to a newly launched HLC accreditation process, the Academic Quality Improvement Program (AQIP). According to the HLC, the aim of AQIP is to achieve positive institutional change through a culture of continuous improvement and specific action projects. Teams, composed of faculty and staff, are responsible for planning and implementing the action projects. KCC accreditation milestones.

Annual Institutional Data Update

Each March, to maintain accreditation, KCC provides HLC with an update of all institutional data. The most recent update was in 2011. See link.

Reaffirmation of Accreditation

Every seven years, KCC participates in a Reaffirmation of Accreditation procedure when an AQIP review panel reviews the college's cumulative record of activity and judges whether it meets the Higher Learning Commission's five criteria for accreditation. The panel also recommends whether the college should be permitted to continue participating in AQIP. KCC is accredited through 2016.
