Leadership on Safety Issues

KCC's campus security office provides leadership on safety issues through the Campus Safety and Security Committee which meets regularly to evaluate means of further improving campus safety.

Regulatory directives

KCC’s security department follows a number of regulations and legislative orders, including the following (with year of establishment in parenthesis):

  • Department of Education Title III, Clery Act (1990)
  • Campus Safety Enhancement Act (2008)
  • Higher Education Act (1965)
  • Family Education Right to Privacy Act (1974)
  • Drug and Alcohol Abuse Act (1988)
  • Drug-Free Colleges and Communities Act (1989)
  • Campus Sexual Assault Bill of Rights (1992)
  • Campus Sex Crimes Prevention Act (2003)
  • Higher Education Opportunity Act (2008)
