Global perspectives

“Internationalization is the conscious effort to integrate and infuse international, intercultural, and global dimensions into the ethos and outcomes of postsecondary education. To be fully successful, it must involve active and responsible engagement of the academic community in global networks and partnerships.”

-- Working definition of Internationalization, adopted by NAFSA: Association of International Educators

Message from KCC's president, Dr. John Avendano

Message from the dean of Learning Services, Julia Waskosky

The KCC Global Education Team welcomes you to our Global Education Web site! The team strives to identify, develop, promote, implement, and assess global education activities both on campus and off-campus with particular emphasis on curriculum development. The Global Education Team was established to help carry out the institution’s global philosophy. In keeping with NAFSA’s definition of Internationalization, also known as “Globalization,” the team’s efforts include the development of global education resources for the college, providing community programming with a global focus, and exploring avenues to recruit and retain international students. Through these activities, the college aims to bring a broader world view to its students.

KCC is a member of the Illinois Consortium for International Studies and Programs (ICISP), the Midwest Institute of International/Intercultural Education (MIIE), NAFSA: Association of International Educators, and Community Colleges for International Development (CCID). KCC staff and Global Education Team members serve on the ICISP board and opportunities sponsored by MIIE are made available to all KCC faculty.
