General Information

Please read this page carefully before filling out the entry form below and tagging your work. See your instructor for additional help in preparing work. Artwork that is not ready to hang, that falls apart, or has incomplete entry tags will not be displayed.

Eligibility

This exhibition is open to students who enrolled in KCC art classes. Students may submit up to two works (a diptych is considered one work) per class that were completed for class credit. Eligible artworks are those which were not shown in previous KCC art shows and were completed in the current 2014 spring semester and/or in the 2013 spring and fall semesters of the previous year.

Specifications

All two-dimensional art work must be ready to hang.

Paintings must have screw eyes and a picture hanging wire attached to the back, no saw tooth hangers. Please do not attach wire or string with tape.

Drawings, 2-D designs and photography must be mounted on a backing, matted and/or framed. No drawings will be accepted without mats. If you don't frame the work and just mat it, you can shrink wrap artwork if you want to protect it. If your artwork has no frame and only a mat, it will be displayed with T-pins on the free standing walls. Our gallery only accepts plexi-glass for protection over drawings and photography. No glass is allowed.

Three-dimensional entries: glass cases are available for small works and floor pedestals for larger pieces. All three-dimensional work must be solidly constructed. (see 3-D instructors for questions.) Any work which falls apart will not be included in the show.

Tagging

All works submitted must be tagged. Please attach a printed copy of the completed entry form, available below, to the backside, upper right corner of all flatwork and to the bottom of or attached with a string to three-dimensional works.

Submission of artwork

Tagged artwork should be taken to the KCC Learning Resource Center (library) on the dates listed below:

Monday, March 31 - Tuesday April 1, 2014.

Hours for delivery are: 8 a.m. - 7:30 p.m. Monday - Tuesday. No late work will be accepted after 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday April 1.

  • All 2-D work with hanging wire should be hung on an empty hanger on the wall.
  • 2-D work without frames and hanging wire should be carefully T-pinned to the free-standing panel walls. If you have questions about hanging your work, check with your instructor.
  • Photography should be hung on hangers on the metal “cube” walls, both inside and out.
  • Students with 3-D work should consult their instructor about placement of your work.
  • Students are responsible for delivery of artwork; instructors are not expected to do this for you.

Liability

The vast majority of students participating in this exhibition do not have an established
market price for their work (obtained by actively selling) and cannot, therefore, expect insurance coverage for their work, except for the cost of materials.

The gallery will not assume liability for loss or damage of entries while in transit. Cost of works stolen or vandalized will be assumed by the gallery (recovery cost will be limited to
materials only). Every reasonable precaution and care will be taken in handling and protecting entries while present on the KCC campus.
