KCC believes that one of the outcomes of the completion of general education requirements should be that students increase their “awareness and develop a more global perspective of the human condition and one’s adaptation to the total human environment” (KCC 2009-10 catalog, 7). A primary goal in this effort is the globalization of courses—infusing courses with international material/ activities/ assignments.
To do this, faculty development through a variety of means, including faculty exchanges with international institutions, is very important. Faculty members are encouraged to expand their global knowledge and incorporate international perspectives into the courses they teach. In the recent past, we have been fortunate to have KCC faculty visit institutions abroad and to receive international faculty on our campus.
Message from KCC's president, Dr. John Avendano
