Advising and Registration

Redesign advisement and registration into a student-centered developmental process.

Communication

Recruitment

Developing market-focused recruitment strategies targeting recent high school graduates.

  • Develop and design new web site; integrate the design of print, TV, direct mail, and web communications; identify high school prospects through high school visits; plan events, student activities and determine new club creations; review course scheduling options.
  • Review program offerings and schedule offerings; Design and administer survey instruments to measure success where appropriate.
  • Evaluate progress in enrollment to date.

Teaching and Learning

To improve the teaching and learning at KCC through a faculty development process by creating an initial mastery phase of prescribed lessons on teaching, learning and assessment, and a second personally-designed individual development plan.

  • Develop materials for faculty development to be required for successful completion by all new full-time faculty and to be offered to adjunct faculty to enhance teaching. (Full Report)
  • Pilot test the learning modules, revise those modules and develop the final version of the modules for faculty development.
  • The first phase of the adjunct faculty development process will be developed, including the learning modules and a system for orientation.
  • Create an orientation process for all new full-time faculty that will be part of the first-year faculty development process.
  • Develop a plan for a second phase of faculty development, based on personally designed individual development plans (either individual or group-based) for both non-tenured and adjunct faculty.
  • Evaluate the success of new faculty development by applying the defined criteria for assessment of the project and by using the results reported from faculty focus groups and surveys.

Valuing People

Valuing people by improving human relations skills throughout the institution.

  • Providing leadership and continuous quality training to all staff, implementing leadership effectiveness surveys, creating quality teams to monitor progress. Current employee handbooks will be reviewed and revised to ensure consistency of leadership, staff productivity and expectations.
