Duplicating Non-print Materials

Scanning of artwork for the purpose of reproduction or the creation of derivative work requires permission of the copyright owner. Scanning of text-based materials is permissible for research purposes. However reproduction of text-based materials for the purpose of creating a copy or to prepare a derivative work requires permission of the copyright owner.

Works of art

Art works may not be duplicated without written permission of the copyright owner. Exceptions can be found under the duplicating print materials section of this policy.

Microforms

May be copied following the guidelines listed in the duplicating print materials section of this policy

Newsletters

Newsletters are unique in that they are brief and have a small circulation. As such almost any copying deprives the publisher of a sale or subscription. Limited copying is permissible under the "small part" exemption in the library photocopying or fair use section of the law. Copying newsletters must be approached with great caution.
