6-week Summer 2012 courses

The six-week KCC summer term will be May 21 to June 28.

Day and evening courses are offered at KCC’s main campus. Online courses also are available.

Registration is underway until May 22 for these courses. Registration hours are 8 a.m. - 7 p.m. Monday through Thursday. Registrations also will be accepted in person 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. Friday, May 11.

Online registration is available for qualified returning students. To learn more, visit www.kcc.edu/registration/. The online registration website is http://connect.kcc.edu/.

Students are encouraged to register early for the best selection of classes. Those enrolling for the first time are encouraged to consult with an adviser before registering.

Registration and advisement is available in Student Services at KCC, located in the east wing of the second floor of the main building.

KCC is located south of downtown Kankakee off River Road, near U.S. 45-52, or take Interstate 57 to Exit 308 and follow the signs. Directions are available at www.kcc.edu/directions.

Students also can register and meet with advisors at the KCC Iroquois County Satellite Center, 1001 E. Grant St. in Watseka. Satellite center hours are Tuesdays, 4:30-7 p.m. and Wednesdays, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

8-week Summer 2012 courses

The eight-week summer term will be June 4 to July 26.

Day and evening courses are offered at KCC’s main campus and a class also is being offered at the Iroquois County Satellite Center in Watseka. Online courses are available as well.

Registration is underway until June 5 for these classes.

GED graduation

The annual GED graduation ceremony will be 6 p.m. Thursday, June 14 in the Iroquois Room at KCC.

The public is invited to the event.

Each year, more than 150 students receive General Educational Development certificates through KCC. KCC offers preparation courses at five area locations. Online instruction also is available.

The GED program is designed for students at least 16 years of age who have not completed high school and are not enrolled in the school system.

GED program preparation is offered at no cost to the student. There is a fee to complete the GED exams.

Cavaliers Classic Golf Outing

The KCC Foundation and the KCC Cavalier Club Cavaliers Classic Golf Outing will be held at the Kankakee Country Club on Monday, Aug. 6.

The outing will begin with lunch and registration at 11 a.m. with a noon tee-off. After golfing, there will be a social hour and dinner buffet.

Complete details and pricing will be added at a later date.

Proceeds benefit scholarship programs and emerging needs for KCC students and athletes. Title sponsor of the event is Nucor Steel.

Ride the River vintage tractor ride

Vintage tractor enthusiasts are invited to get Ride the River on Saturday, Aug. 25.

The ride begins and ends at KCC. In between, tractors wind along the scenic Kankakee and Iroquois rivers. Exact start time will be provided at a later date.

Hosted by KCC and the Central Illinois Green Club, proceeds of Ride the River fund a KCC scholarship for students in agricultural and horticultural programs.

Tractor registration fee is $60. Second riders or tractors that change drivers are an additional $25. The registration fee includes lunch, cap, and commemorative pins. Extra lunch tickets can be purchased for $10 each.

The ride is limited to 150 tractors, so register today! Registration deadline is Aug. 15.
