KCC athletes win awards on the court and in the classroom.
 The Cavaliers Are Readers, Too (CART) program was recognized by the Illinois Community College Board and the Illinois Board of Higher Education as a Best Effective Practice in 2006.
Since its inception in fall 2005, CART has visted 52 schools with 15 scheduled for the 2009-2010 school year.
The program stresses the importance of reading and comprehension to elementary school children. Through CART, Cavaliers athletes lead reading activities at school assemblies, in classrooms and during reading circles. Athletes from all six of KCC’s sports programs participate in CART.
