The Fitness Center operates as a KCC course -- which means you earn college credit for working out, but you still pay the same on less than health club. Being a member of KCC's Fitness Center you only pay 86 cents a day (from the beginning to the end of the semester). Your workout schedule is up to you. After an initial orientation, there are no set meeting times, you work out as often as you'd like. To join, register at KCC's Department of Student Services. After registering, sign up for an 60-minute orientation by phoning (815) 802-8610 or stopping by the Fitness Center.
Fitness orientation:
At your personal orientation, a member of the Fitness Center staff will take you through a fitness assessment which includes: girth, height, weight, resting hear rate and body fat composition. This information will be kept condifential. The orientation also includes a tour of the Fitness Center and locker rooms along with an explanation of our 21 Life Fitness cable-assisted lifting machines.
Grades:
Every semester of enrollment, Fitness Center participants receive a grade based on the amount of time exercising. To receive an A: complete 10 hours and 40 minutes of exercise throughout the semester. To pass under the pass/fail option, complete 8 hours of exercise throughout the semester.
Seniors and high schoolers:
The Fitness Center provides a comfortable place for fitness at any age! Those who are over age 60 can enroll for just $28 per semester. Plus, special workout "challenges" are sometimes held especially for members of the "Top of the Hill Gang."
For high school students, Fitness Center credits can be held in escrow until you graduate, then the credits can be applied as college credits at KCC or another college.
