Brown signs with U of I Springfield

Kankakee Community College sophomore, Khassandrae Brown, has signed a letter of intent to play for the University of Illinois Springfield (NCAA Division II). A 5-10 post player, Brown has been a key player for Donnie Denson and Kankakee Community College where she was named All-Region as well as to the region’s All-Tournament team after averaging 11 points and eight rebounds and shooting 55-percent from the field during her freshman year. As prep, Brown earned All-State honors at East Peoria High School where she scored over 1,000 points and was a three-time All-Conference pick.

In her sophomore campaign, Khassandrae is leading the team averaging 15 points and pulls down 4 rebounds each game. The Cavaliers are currently 8-0 and ranked 4th in National polls.

“Khassandrae has developed into a solid floor leader.  Her ability to attack opponents and get to the rim or to the free throw line makes her a tough guard for most.  She has worked very hard to develop her college skills and become a successful and solid college student athlete on the floor and in the community,” said head coach Donnie Denson. “She will be a solid contributor and help coach Fauser in continuing to build a solid program at the University of Illinois – Springfield.”

“Khassandrae has a strong hardworking personality and she will give us depth in the post,” head coach Marne Fauser said. “Khassandrae comes from a successful junior college program and will be a great addition to our program at UIS.”
