Jared Holmes signs

Sophomore, Jared Holmes, has signed a letter of intent to continue his basketball career at Georgia College & State University in Milledgeville, Ga. recently.

Holmes, helped lead the Cavaliers to a 29-5 record this past season, won the Region IV Div. I Championship and played a role in helping his team advance to the District Finals. Jared shot 52 percent from the field and 79 percent from the free throw line.

“Jared reminds us of a former Bobcat, Ken Kemp (2005-09),” revealed Sellers. “He is tough, hard-nosed and has the ability to be the best defender on our team. At 6-foot-3, Jared will be able to defend our opponent’s leading scorer and rebound effectively in the Peach Belt Conference,” said Sellers. “Jared is a great addition to our basketball family here at Georgia College.”

The Bobcats are fresh off a 22-6 season in 2009-10, winning the Peach Belt Conference (PBC) West Division title. Georgia College has now made back-to-back trips to the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 1999-2000 and picked up its fourth 20-win season in the past five years.  The Bobcats were ranked as high as No. 14 in the NABC National Rankings.
