 2012 Season Preview

Of the five returnees for the 2012 season, four are starting position players and one is a pitcher who helped lead
the 2011 team to a third place finish in the nation. "With the five sophomores and a great group of freshmen, we should again have a banner season," said the Cavaliers' veteran head coach, Dennis Clark.

The returning pitcher is Jenna Slifer, an All-Region IV selection as a freshman. She finished 2011 with a 13-4 record and an E.R.A. of 2.53. "With the experience and success Jenna had last year, I expect her to have a great sophomore season," said Clark. "With Jenna Slifer and three talented freshmen pitchers, we will again have the best pitching staff in Region IV."

The Cavaliers also return four talented position players, led by shortstop Olivia Roback. Olivia hit a team high average of .454 last season. She had 93 hits with 49 RBI and 24 extra base hits. "Olivia is an all-around great player," said Clark. "She plays great defense and hits for average as well as power."

Another returning starter is Kelsey Gass (396 BA, 65 RBI, 35 extra base hits, 12 HR). Kelsey has a great arm and hits for power. "She will drive in a lot of runs for us this year" said Clark.

Two other returning starters are lead-off hitter Alli Lewis(.415 BA), center field; and third baseman Steph Roan (.370 BA). "Both Steph and Alli are great players who work extremely hard and love to compete," Clark said.

"I  always expect big things out of my returnees" said Clark. "I feel they will lead us, along with the 10 talented new players, toward our 17th Region IV championship and the opportunity to compete for a NJCAA Division II National Championship."
