Meet the President

Jerry Weber, Ph.D.

"If you haven't visited KCC lately, you will be surprised when you do visit. There have been facility changes at 100 College Drive as well as the opening of the Education and Employment Center on North Schuyler in downtown Kankakee. The renovations and expanded facilities are helping us to keep up with the growth and development of our educational programs and keep pace in today's society to have our students well-prepared for their next step.

"The establishment of the Health Careers Center for Excellence is underway. Quality health care is vital to everyone, and KCC is doing its part in partnership with our community health-care providers to offer the best facilities for the training and education of the students who attend KCC.

"It continues to be my privilege to provide leadership to the dedicated employees of KCC and to represent the college in our community. And it is not just the employees that lead KCC, but the students. Our campus Business Society is working diligently to provide the campus with an expanded recycling program, for example.

"Climate change has become a topic of interest throughout the state of Illinois with efforts led by state government officials.  KCC is currently working to develop programs and provide resources to aid our students. The matter of sustainability is of keen interest to educators as it is seen as a vital part of everyone's future. At KCC, we want to be ready to aid our students as they further their education."

Jerry W. Weber of Bourbonnais has served as president of KCC since July 2001. He has worked in the field of higher education for over thirty years.

"We are fortunate to have a president with such vision seeing to the needs of our students at KCC," stated Hugh Van Voorst, chairman of the board of trustees.

Weber has a doctorate in higher education administration with a concentration in community college administration from the University of Iowa in Iowa City. He has a master's degree in educational measurement and statistics from the University of Iowa as well. Weber has two degrees from Northern Illinois University in DeKalb–a master's degree in linguistics and English literature and a bachelor's degree in English.
