Paralegal Activities

There are plenty of opportunities to get involved as a student in the Paralegal/Legal Assistant Studies program.

Lambda Epsilon Chi is a nationally known academic honor society for paralegal students. Learn more.

Legal Careers Day is held annually at KCC to showcase the variety of legal careers available to students who pursue a community college degree and beyond.  Our 2011 Legal Careers Day program has been profiled in the American Bar Association's 2012 Law Day Planning Guide (see pp. 7-8).

Illinois Appellate Court - on Sept. 17, 2010, and again on May 1, 2013, KCC was the first community college in recorded Illinois courts history to host the Illinois Appellate Court on its campus. Approximately 300 students, legal professionals, and interested citizens participated in all or part of the day's events!  We now host this event in partnership with the Kankakee County Bar Association and the Society of Women in Law.

Family Trivia Night is hosted each spring by the KCC chapter of Lambda Epsilon Chi. Proceeds benefit Prairie State Legal Services, a not-for-profit provider of free civil legal services for low-income and elderly residents of Kankakee and Iroquois counties when they are faced with the loss of safety, access to healthcare, income or shelter.

Hollywood Squares Night was hosted for the first time in October 2014 by the KCC chapter of Lambda Epsilon Chi to benefit Prairie State Legal Services.  Check out the pictures from our event at Paralegal Program on Facebook .  The 2016 event is scheduled to be held during ABA Law Week (May 2-6, 2016).
