A2 Entrance Exam

Most health careers programs require you to take the A2 Entrance Exam. Scores will be used for the competitive entrance process. You must meet the program's other minimum eligibility requirements prior to taking the A2 Exam. The test fee is $35 per attempt.

The A2 Entrance Exam applies to these programs:

  • Practical, and Registered Nursing
  • Registered Nursing Advanced Placement Option I
  • Massage Therapy 
  • Radiography
  • Physical Therapist Assistant
  • Respiratory Therapist
  • Medical Laboratory Technology
  • Medical Laboratory Technology Advanced Placement Option I

Test time frames

You can take the exam twice during a given time frame, with a minimum of one week between attempts.

Summer 2014 Admission: February-March, 2014

Fall 2014 Admission: February-March, 2014

Spring 2015 Admission: September-October, 2014

You must schedule the exam seven days in advance of the testing date, and pay the exam fee of $35 in the Accounting Office at KCC.

Bring your payment receipt on the scheduled test day! It is required. Those without a receipt will not be allowed to test and will forfeit the scheduled attempt without a refund.

Ranking and eligibility 

After testing, all eligible students will be ranked based on test scores. In order to be ranked, the student must receive a minimum qualifying score. Eligible students who are not offered a seat will be alternates.

Tie-breaking rules

If a choice must be made among a number of applicants with the same test scores, selection for admission will be made on the basis of

  • completion of the greatest number of non-RNUR, -PNUR, PHTA, -XRAY, -RESP, or -MEDT courses in the curriculum then,
  • the highest cumulative GPA (KCC + current district's community college if applicable.) If you have earned fewer than 12 semester hours of college credit coursework at KCC (and current district's community college if applicable), your cumulative GPA will be considered to be zero (0) for tie-breaking purposes.
