Testing Services

The Testing Center (Room D218) provides placement tests, career planning tests, proctoring services and the administration of standardized tests.

The Testing Center is open at least 24 hours a week during most of the year. Walk-in placement testing is available for new students who have not previously taken the placement test and who have not yet taken certain courses and students who have been approved for re-testing. Walk-in testing is also available for students taking make-up tests. Other tests need to be scheduled in advance.

When calling to schedule testing, students are advised to confirm testing time and location. Some tests require students to arrive a minimum of 15 minutes before testing begins.

Photo identification required. Test dates and fees vary.

If you are a student with a disability, the Testing Center also coordinates any testing accommodations, such as extra time, scribe or reader, or quiet testing environment. Contact Disability Services at 815-802-8632.

How to use the testing center

1. Check with your instructor to verify that make-up exams or exams for students with disabilities have been filed in the Testing Center.

2. Present a PHOTO ID to the proctor at the sign in desk in the Testing Center.

3. Complete your exam under the directions noted by the instructor or with the accommodations as approved by Disability Services. Tests must be completed before leaving the Testing Center and students will not be permitted to re-enter the room after beginning to take a test.

4. Please give yourself enough time to complete your test before closing.

5. The proctor will attempt to keep noise to a minimum within the Testing Center and will ask you to refrain from talking or other distracting noise.
