For eight
fortunate students, it pays to be
a KCC student ambassador
For the fourth year, a scholarship for student ambassadors is available through the KCC Foundation.
This scholarship-based program provides participants the opportunity to build project management and communication skills. Ambassadors attend workshops focused on leadership development, interact with board members and community leaders and offer their opinions about student life.
Student Ambassadors assist college staff with open houses, tours, graduation and other college-related activities. They also help plan for KCC Foundation and alumni events, and are the "face" of KCC at events and in the community. One Student Ambassador serves as liaison to the Alumni Advisory Committee, and another as liaison to the KCC Foundation board.
A Student Ambassador is expected to:
- Be helpful
- Possess good communication skills
- Be respectful of diversity
- Possess a sense of ethics/responsibility
- Have a positive attitude
- Be a leader
- Enjoy volunteering and getting involved
- Understand professionalism
- Be a good problem solver
- Demonstrate KCC's core values, which are:
- Respect
- Excellence
- Learning
- Integrity
- Collaboration
To apply for the program, students must maintain a minimum KCC cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher, and maintain full time or part time enrollment status, and always adhere to the college's and program's code of conduct. Applications may be completed online or obtained from the Foundation office. Two completed reference forms must also be submitted. Application deadline is May 24, 2012.
