Optional Retest for Health Career Programs
- Retests are not permitted until at least one week after the test was last taken.
- Generally, ASSET/COMPASS cannot be taken more than twice in any 12 month period. If, however, you take COMPASS for placement, are not satisfied with the scores, and retest for placement, one more attempt to meet minimum program eligibility requirements or to improve lyour points is permitted with the 12 month period.
- Only the latest test scores (regardless of whether they are ASSET or COMPASS) will be used for the calculation of points.
- The most recent ASSET scores or the most recent COMPASS scores can be used to meet minimum eligibility requirements.
- COMPASS reading and writing segments must be taken together.
- A student meeting eligibility requirements at the initial deadline may not retake ASSET/COMPASS after that deadline to increase points for that year's program.
- A student meeting eligibility requirements after the initial deadline may not retake ASSET/COMPASS after meeting eligibility requirements to increase points for that year's program.
- A fee will be charged for retests within a two-year period.
- All retests must be taken at KCC unless special permission to retest elsewhere is granted by the director of student advisement services.
To schedule a retest appointment:
a) Phone 802-8500 and make an appointment with an adviser to discuss retest eligibility/appropriateness.
b) Make sure that you have an official high school transcript on file.
