On Friday, March 2, the Continuing Education Department at Kankakee Community College will offer a professional development course on addiction treatment.
“Addressing Trauma in Addictions Treatment and Recovery” offers strategies to address five varieties of traumatic stress disorder common among clients with addictions: Acute stress disorder; Post-traumatic stress disorder; Complex trauma; Historical trauma; and 24-7-365 terror. Other topics are included. Six contact hours will be awarded to counselors and social workers. Illinois Alcohol and Other Drug Abuse Professional Certification Association contact hours have been applied for and are pending.
The instructor is Mark Sanders. The class meets Friday, March 2 from 8:30 a.m. - 4 p.m. in the Iroquois Room, Room D152 at KCC. Course number is HLTH 427A.A16. The cost is $79. Those who register by Feb. 12 and save $20 and pay just $59!
