Horticulture Program Facilities and Equipment

Program Facilities

As of mid-2009, KCC’s horticulture program has a strong foothold and is ready for rapid expansion.  The program has a building in which courses and laboratory sessions will be conducted.  A greenhouse facility is planned, with construction to begin later this year.  Teaching gardens and an arboretum have also been planned.  Students, along with the program instructors, will manage and maintain these facilities as they are established and expand in the coming years.

Program Equipment

Being a new program, KCC’s horticulture program has been working hard to acquire new horticultural equipment for use by students.  The program recently purchased two new garden tillers and a soil sterilizer.  The horticulture program has also purchased three different hydroponic units—an aeroponic unit, an ebb/flow unit, and a top-drip unit—that will be used in the teaching of sustainable horticulture and plant production practices.
