Agriculture Program

Students earning an associate of science degree with an emphasis in agriculture will be prepared to transfer to select Illinois four-year universities to complete their agriculture bachelor's degree. Students will also be prepared to enter the highly competitive agriculture employment field either through self-employment or by working for an existing agricultural company.
According to the U.S. Labor statistics , the agriculture field in the area will have over 70 annual job openings and require a total of 1,100 replacement jobs over the next ten years.
Information for Agriculture Transfer Majors
- Students in the Agriculture Transfer Program will be introduced to both the science and buisness of agriculture
- Agriculture classes are offered as "online hybrid" courses through a cooperative agreement with the University of Illinois in Urbana. For agriculture courses, lectures are online and laboratory sessions are at the University of Illinois at Urbana.
- General education classes offered both online and at KCC
- After completing two years of full-time study at KCC, students will be able to transfer to select Illinois four-year universities at the junior level to complete a bachelor's degree in agriculture.

- Estimated total program cost (entering program in 2009): $6,300. This figure is about one-third the cost to attend an ILlinois four-year university as a freshman or sophomore.
