Physical Therapist Assistant

Believe - Learn - Become

KCC is excited to announce the addition of the Physical Therapist Assistant program to our division of Health Careers with anticipation to accept the first cohort of students into the fall, 2009 semester.

This two-year Associate in Applied Science degree consists of five consecutive semesters and integrates theory and clinical education with a strong emphasis on professional standards. As a cohort, students progress along a learning continuum from basic skills and knowledge to terminal clinical experiences in a variety of physical therapy settings.

The profession of physical therapy promotes human health and function through the application of scientific principles and the art of caring using an individualized "hands-on" approach. The gratification for being a physical therapist assistant comes from helping people prevent, alleviate, or correct problems related to physical impairment, limitation, or disability and help them optimize their quality of life.

Through a high-quality, contemporary, and technically oriented curriculum and clinical education experiences, the PTA program faculty are committed to meeting the needs of today's student to achieve an Associate in Applied Science degree, prepare for success on the national licensure exam, and pursue a fulfilling career as a physical therapist assistant. Embarking in physical therapist assistant education will be your first commitment to professional service and life-long learning.

Believe - Learn - Become! Beyond the classroom and books, we are here to assist you discover your learning journey, establish your professional goals, and realize your dreams. Please make an appointment with a Health Careers adviser in Student Services at (815) 802-8500 and take the first step into the rewarding profession of physical therapy.
