Transfer Center Services

The goal of the Transfer Center staff is to assist students with preparing to transfer to four-year colleges or universities to complete a bachelor's degree.

The Transfer Center offers:

  • Individual advisement on course transferability. Also known as an articulation of transfer credits, advisement on course transferability helps students select the classes and programs that will transfer. Useful information can be found on the U.Select Illinois and the iTransfer web sites. U.Select Illinois is an online tool (http://www.transfer.org/) that will help you view program requirements, course equivalencies, and see how courses you have taken or plan to take will transfer to another college or university. You may login as a guest to use most of the tools and resources on the site. The iTransfer Web site is helpful if you plan to attend more than one institution as you earn your degree. The iTransfer Web site will help you plan ahead to transfer successfully between participating IAI (Illinois Articulation Initiative) schools.
  • Opportunities to meet with four-year college and university representatives on KCC's campus. A calendar of upcoming visits and open houses is available on the Transfer Center Events page as well as posted on Transfer Center message boards around campus and KCC's Facebook page.
  • College fairs and transfer days held at KCC. The Fall 2009 College Transfer Fair will be held on Monday, Sept. 21, 2009 from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the College Center and the Atrium at KCC.
  • Assistance with accessing college and university web sites.
  • Resources to learn more about different colleges such as viewbooks and college catalogs.

Transferring to Four-Year Colleges or Universities

  • Admission as a transfer student to one of the state universities in Illinois is primarily based on grade point average for all previous college work.
  • Applications to most of the state universities in Illinois should be filed one year in advance of the desired term of entry. Check the admissions page of your intended transfer institution for specific application details.
