Transferring from KCC Checklist
|
- Determine your major area of interest by consulting the Career Planning Services office, the KCC catalog, and the coordinator of the Transfer Center.
- Consult your academic adviser each semester to choose and enroll in courses to transfer to the four-year college or university. Note the required admission GPA for your intended major and the application dates. Most senior institutions accept applications one year prior to the desired term of entry.
- KCC participates in the Illinois Articulation Initiative (IAI), a statewide transfer agreement for general education courses. To see how your general education courses transfer between Illinois community colleges, go to the IAI web site at www.itransfer.org and choose IAI.
- To find out how your courses will count toward a bachelor's degree, visit the U.Select Illinois web site at www.transfer.org. Information about how courses transfer between participating institutions, the majors institutions offer, the graduation requirements for different majors, and how course credits transfer to satisfy degree requirements is available. You may login as a guest to access most of the resources available on the site.
- Attend open house dates at four-year colleges and universities.
- Select your transfer college or university and check on its application period for transfer students. Have your KCC transcript sent to the chosen college or university when submitting your application.
- Schedule an appointment with your KCC academic advisor in order to complete your petition to graduate the semester (fall or spring) prior to transfer.
- After acceptance, have your final KCC transcript sent to the school with the degree posted. Attend orientation and registration at the senior institution.
