Community Service Scholars

The Community Service Scholars Program at Kankakee Community College is designed to reward area high school students for their dedication to their community. Up to five students each year will receive the scholarships to cover tuition and fees at KCC. Scholarship recipients are service ambassadors from the college, spearheading projects, dedicating approximately 80 hours to service each semester and contributing to a visible college presence in local communities.

Community Service Scholars are members of the college's Rotaract Club, chartered in October, 2005. The KCC Rotaract Club is part of the international program of Rotary International for college students. Club members engage themselves in community and international service, as well as leadership development activities. The KCC Rotaract Club is sponsored by the Kankakee Rotary Club and is open to all KCC students.

Eligibility requirements for the Community Service Scholars Program include a high school grade point average of 2.50 or above on a four point scale, an essay about previous participation in community service, a letter of recommendation and a completed scholarship application. The deadline for filing applications is July 1 each year. An official seventh semester or final high school transcript should be included with the application.
