Tech Prep is designed to prepare students for the requirements of a highly skilled work force. The Tech Prep sequence includes academic and technical courses taught at the secondary (high school) level followed by either a minimum of two years of community college study toward an associate degree, certificate, or an apprenticeship of at least two years.
As workplace requirements change, there are opportunities for individuals with the right skills. Tech Prep emphasizes skills in communication, mathematics, problem-solving and critical thinking, as well as technical skills which are important for a successful career.
Tech Prep integrates college preparatory course work with a rigorous concentration of technical education and workplace skills, and is a partnership among secondary educators, post-secondary educators and business representatives.
