Training

KCC offers a 2-year Electrical Technology program with a Renewable Energy focus track and three renewable energy certificate options. The program features hands-on labs with real-world hardware and a local installation project at the end of each semester, either at KCC or in the Kankakee area.

Learn more: Dwayne Musick, email dmusick@kcc.edu, phone 815-802-8516.
Program coordinator: Tim Wilhelm, email twilhelm@kcc.edu, phone 815-802-8864.

Get started!

Survey of Renewable Energy (ELTR 1223) explores current environmental, social, and technological issues driving interest in renewable energy and provides a basic understanding of these technologies. Delve deeper into each technology with Small-Wind, Solar-Photovoltaic and Solar-Thermal courses. There is no textbook and no lab fees, either.

Meets Spring 2015: Thursdays 5:30-8:20 p.m. Jan. 12 to May 11.

To enroll: Returning students can use KCConnect. New students should phone 815-802-8516 for information.

Complete a certificate

Renewable energy certificates (21 credit hours) in Solar-Photovoltaic, Solar-Thermal, and Small-Wind technologies prepare you for entry-level jobs in the solar or wind industries.

Earn a degree

Earn an Associate in Applied Science degree in Electrical Technology with a Renewable Energy focus and you'll have the skills to fill a variety of solar, wind, and electrical technician positions. If you want to pursue a bachelor's degree, you'll be prepared to enter electrical technology programs with junior status at select colleges and universities.

Professor Tim Wilhelm explains how in this video.
