ID Cards

KCC Photo ID information

Effective Fall 2006, students enrolled at KCC are required to have a KCC photo ID. The photo ID card is required to be carried at all times while on campus. Students must be prepared to present their card to campus security, KCC faculty and administration, and personnel in the Accounting Office, Admissions and Registration, Miner Memorial Library, bookstore, and other offices. Students will receive ID cards during regular registration.

Credit students

Student IDCredit students have an active barcode on the front of the card and on the magnetic strip on the back. The card is valid for three years and must be validated every semester.

Credit students can use the card to

  • Check out books from the KCC library and I-Share libraries such as Joliet Junior College, Olivet Nazarene University, Governors State University.
  • Enter college-wide activities

No fee for the first card, $5 for each replacement card.

In the future, the card will allow access to select areas and doorways, check in and out of the KCC Fitness Center, and to establish accounts for food services and copiers.

Health Career students

Health Career Student IDThe health student card is used at off-site clinical locations only. It has no active barcode or magnetic strip. The card is valid only while the student is enrolled in the health career program. 

No fee for the first card, $5 for each replacement card.

Community students

GED students, Upward Bound and other high school grant program participants receive a community student ID card. 

Community Student IDThe community student card has an active barcode on the front, but does not have an active magnetic strip on the back. The card is valid for two years and must be validated every semester.

Community students can use the card to

  • Check out books from the KCC library and some I-Share libraries
  • Enter college-wide activities.

No fee for the first card, $5 for each replacement card.

Staff and faculty

The staff card has an active barcode on the front and an active identification number in the magnetic strip on the back. The card does not have an expiration date. Human resources will collect the card during the exit interview.

Staff IDStaff can use the card to

  • Check out books from the KCC library and I-Share libraries such as Joliet Junior College, Olivet Nazarene University, and Governors State University.
  • Check in and out at the KCC Fitness Center and
  • Enter college-wide activities

Community Member IDThe community member card has an active barcode on the front, but does not have an active magnetic strip on the back. The expiration date is on the card.

Community members can use the card to check out books from the KCC library and some I-Share libraries.

$5 for the first card and for each replacement card.

Photo ID statement

All card types include the following statement on the back:

  1. This identification card must be carried at all times and presented to college officials when conducting business with the college.
  2. The use of this card is governed by all Kankakee Community College regulations and is not transferable.
  3. If presented by anyone other than the pictured cardholder, the card will be confiscated and all privileges revoked.
  4. A lost, damaged or stolen identification card must be reported to the library office. A $5.00 charge will be assessed for each replacement card.
  5. This card remains the property of Kankakee Community College and is to be surrendered on demand by any college official.
