Who can borrow from KCC's library?
Current faculty, students and staff of KCC, residents of KCC District 520 (with a valid KCC ID card) and affiliated borrowers.
Where can I obtain a library card?
The ID Processor is generally located in the library. However during peak registration times the ID processor is in Student Services. Ask at the circulation desk in the library to verify it's location. The initial ID card is free to staff and students with a State ID and upon verification of employment or enrollment. Residents of Community College District 520 may purchase a card for $5 with proof of residence and a State ID.
Can someone else borrow library materials for me?
Patrons should never allow someone else to use their ID card. The owner of the ID card is responsible for all materials borrowed against it.
What happens if my card is lost?
A lost card should be reported immediately to the circulation supervisor in the library. The replacement cost for a lost card is $5. A note will be added to your circulation record as a precaution and your photo ID will be carefully checked on all future checkouts to prevent misuse of your card by another patron.
Where do I check out materials?
All library materials are checked out at the Circulation Desk using a valid KCC ID card.
How long can I keep library materials?
Most books can be checked out for four weeks to students, staff and non-students; and for 16 weeks to faculty, unless otherwise noted. Generally all materials other than books are for use in the library only.
Where do I return library materials?
When the library is open, please return materials to the Circulation Desk. After hours, return materials in the book drop located on the wall next to the library entrance. An outside book drop is not available.
May library materials be renewed?
Books are permitted one renewal providing the item has not been recalled for use by another patron. Patrons may renew materials by bringing the item(s) to the Circulation Desk or by using the "renew" button in KCC's Online Catalog.
What if I have damaged my library materials?
Upon return of the materials, the patron will be billed for either repairs or replacement.
What are the charges for overdue materials?
Overdue notices will be sent for late materials. If a patron does not return items in a timely manner, he or she will be billed $40 for the replacement cost of the book, a $10 processing fee and a $3 late fee for each book. Borrowing privileges will be suspended for patrons who have been billed.
What does it mean when my borrowing privileges are suspended?
Suspended privileges prevent you from charging or requesting materials from the library as well as any other I-SHARE Online member library. Privledges are suspended when patrons have outstanding bills or overdue materials.
How can I get my borrowing privileges reinstated?
Borrowing privileges will be reinstated when the fees for lost or overdue materials have been paid in full or the materials returned in good condition and overdue fees have been paid.
