The library collection at KCC includes 49,000 volumes of curriculum-based books, articles and pamphlets, and 242 periodical subscriptions. Both audio and video recordings also are available.
The library microform collection includes the Kankakee paper from 1854 to present, The New York Times from 1960 through 2005 and many magazine and journal titles.
The library has an online public access catalog and access to library holdings worldwide. Interlibrary loans offer students and faculty borrowing privileges from remote libraries throughout Illinois and the world. The library staff provides bibliographic and research assistance in using electronic and printed library materials.
Current KCC Photo ID cards are required to check out books and for many other transactions in the library. The barcode number on the library card is used as a password for some electronic resources and web resources available off campus.
As a student you can receive a library card for free after presenting verification of registration and a State ID or Drivers License. KCC full-time faculty and staff members also can receive cards for free. The ID Processor is generally located in the library except during peak registration times when it is located in Student Services. Anyone needing a KCC Photo ID should inquire at the Circulation Desk.
