Library Services Available 

The library staff provides assistance to patrons in many areas, including reference, instruction in using the LRC, tours, interlibrary loans and acquisitions.

Reference:

Reference questions related to library resources or services can be directed to any  staff member.

Library instruction and tours:

Instructors may request library orientation sessions for their classes. At the orientation session, library staff  will provide students with an overview of library resources and services. The online catalog and other resources will be demonstrated.   Library staff are also available to provide specialized instruction on using library resources.  These sessions can be tailored to specific needs of the class.  For additional information contact Karen Becker 802-8405

Tours also are available for community groups or individuals not affiliated with KCC. Arrangements for all tours must be made a minimum of seven days in advance and are subject to staff availability. To arrange for a tour of the LRC, phone (815) 802-8405 or e-mail Karen Becker through this site.

Interlibrary loans:

Book requests—E-mail us through this site to request a book through interlibrary loan that is unavailable through KCC's Online Catalog or FirstSearch. Include the following information: exact book title and author; if available, the year of publication and ISBN number; your first and last name; KCC ID barcode number; and a telephone number or E-mail address. Telephone requests are not accepted.

Periodical article requests­—E-mail us through this site to request a periodical article through interlibrary loan that is unavailable through FirstSearch, Thompson-Gale Expanded Academic ASAP, EBSCO or Sage Deep Backfiles.   Include the following information:

Exact article title; periodical title and publication date (including volume number, month and year); if available, author and page numbers; your first and last name; KCC ID barcode number; and a telephone number or e-mail address. Telephone requests are not accepted.

Acquisitions:

To recommend a book for purchase by the Learning Resource Center or to recommend adding a periodical to the LRC's collection, E-mail us through this site. Include the book or periodical title, book author(s) name, date of publication and any other pertinent information. Acquisitions request forms also are available in the LRC. Instructors also may request a preview of non-print materials by E-mailing us through this site.
