The Student Activities Board coordinates activities, events and programs for the students of KCC. These experiences are designed to be fun, educational, cultural, diverse, engaging and entertaining.
What does a Student Activities Board member do?
Decides how student activities funds are used by reviewing marketing materials from various artists and entertainers to determine what events to bring to KCC.
Plans the advertising promotional campaigns for upcoming events. We deal with questions like:
- Who is the target audience for this program?
- What kind of advertising will work best?
- How do I get my ideas to print?
- How do I get newspaper advertising?
Surveys students, faculty, and staff of KCC to gather input regarding activity and entertainment preferences, preferred times/days for events, etc.
Manages more here than in any other student organization. We delegate authority, place responsibility; motivate a staff and check on the progress of projects. Learning to handle people is one of the primary concerns of leaders in all fields and this is a good place to receive experience you can document.
Learns teamwork. The importance of teamwork cannot be overstated. In seminars all over the country, people are paying to learn how to interact with other people. Unfortunately, the classroom isn’t the best place to learn teamwork. The best learning is through practice and participation. On the Student Activities Board, this learning comes naturally from being a part of the group.
Writes a great resume! The experience you will gain is great for showing to employers that you are exactly what they are looking for. While others may say that they can do a job, you will be able to prove it!
