Direct Service Provider

The Direct Service Provider Training Consortium is a collaborative effort between Kankakee Community College and local agencies for the developmentally disabled, currently including the Kankakee County Training Center, United Developmental Services, and Carrie's Place. The Consortium was established in 2002.

Forty hours of classroom training at Kankakee Community College include a module in each of the following areas of study:

  • Introduction to Developmental Disabilities
  • Human Interaction & Communication
  • Human Rights
  • Abuse & Neglect Prevention, Recognition and Intervention
  • Service Plan Development and Implementation
  • Basic Health & Safety

On-the-job training is at the individual agencies. Participating agencies provide instructors for portions of the training program.
