Wellness and disease prevention

The common cold and flu are nothing to sneeze at. Plus, other infections and viruses can be even more threatening.

Cold and flu

As the cold and flu season approaches it's time to take extra measures to avoid illness. Feeling ill can wreak havoc on your family, your energy level and your course work. We've put together links to articles on prevention and tips for staying well this winter season.

MRSA prevention

You've probably seen in news reports information about MRSA (methicilllin-resistant Staphylcoccus aureus), an antibiotic-resistant bacteria which has been found to be contagious.

MRSA prevention at KCC

KCC is taking the following steps …

  1. Reviewing cleaning and disinfectant products and procedures.
  2. Meeting with personnel in higher areas of concern, such as child care and athletics, to provide them with the needed information.
  3. Creating communications to inform you about prevention. A separate web page containing information on MRSA, flu and cold season, and other health-related issues soon will be available.
  4. What you can do: Wash your hands frequently; keep cuts and scrapes clean and covered with a bandage until healed; avoid contact with other people's wounds or bandages; and avoid sharing personal items, such as towel or razors.
