Health career programs

KCC offers nine program options for students interested in a health career. Some health career programs are transferable, so you can complete the first two years of your bachelor's degree at KCC. Other health career programs at KCC will prepare you to enter the workforce immediately after completing the necessary coursework. The following health programs are available at KCC:

  • Emergency Medical Technician/Paramedic
  • Medical Assistant
  • Medical Laboratory Technology*
  • Nursing* (Registered, Practical, Certified Nursing Assistant)
  • Radiography*
  • Respiratory Therapy*

*Specific admission requirements apply to these programs. Reference the information below.

Information on admission into specific programs

Being accepted to Kankakee Community College does not mean acceptance into a Health Career Program. A competitive application process is employed due to limitations placed upon the number of students who may be accepted into specific Health Career Programs.

Applicants who meet minimum records and academic eligibility requirements by the deadlines listed below will receive first consideration for entry to the corresponding program. Applications will continue to be accepted after that initial deadline, with eligible applicants being considered for program entry on a space available basis according to points - those with the highest points are accepted first.

Qualified in-district applicants and out-of-district applicants who are utilizing a cooperative agreement that KCC offers for a particular program will be given priority over other out-of-district or out-of-state applicants. In cases where an insufficient number of qualified in-district residents or cooperative agreement students apply, qualified out-of-district applicants will be considered. To qualify as an in-district applicant at the initial deadline, a person must meet residence requirements as outlined in the KCC catalog prior to the program's deadline. The applicant may be required to prove district residency by providing a driver's license, a voter's registration card and other requested documentation.
