Prospective Students

Bookstore

The KCC bookstore sells required textbooks, school supplies, greeting cards, and gift items, including KCC clothing.

The bookstore accepts cash, checks, and Visa®, MasterCard® and Discover® cards. Receipts cannot be provided after the day of purchase.

Textbooks may change from semester to semester. When a textbook edition changes, and the book is kept past the refund or buyback deadline, the book is not returnable. Therefore, it is recommended that students purchase books only for the upcoming semester.

Order online

Textbooks and other course materials can be ordered online at www.kankakee.bkstr.com. Textbooks ordered online are chosen by using KCC course numbers.

Refunds

All bookstore returns must be accompanied by a cash register receipt and student I.D. No exceptions.

At the beginning of each semester, students who have decided not to take a Credit Division course for which they purchased a book may return the textbook within the first two weeks of school with their receipt. Students will receive a full refund if the book is in new condition. If the book is soiled or marked, one-half of the new book price may be refunded. Used books are refunded at used book prices. Packaged diskettes sold with textbooks are not returnable if the cellophane wrapping has been removed from the software diskette.

If you have a late starting class you have one week from the beginning of your class to return your book with receipt and copy of schedule for a refund. Buyback for these classes are the same as regular terms — July, December and May.

Buyback

The bookstore purchases back select textbooks at a percentage of the original cost during specified 'Buyback Days' at the end of each semester. Specific dates are posted at the bookstore. Books must be in 'like new' condition with a maximum of no more that 10 pages of highlighting to qualify. A photo or student ID is required for all buyback transactions. Information on which books are being purchased back by the bookstore is only available on buyback dates. You get a little green in your pocket and you help a future student who can then buy them at 'used' book prices - it's a win-win! Check out the 'Buyback Days' at the end of each semester.
