Tammy Morricala KCC sophomore and Grace Baptist Academy graduate, spent the fall 2002 semester in Canterbury, England furthering her studies in international relations. She had such a great experience in England that she went back for the spring 2003 semester for more. "London is an amazing city," Tammy said. "I can't believe that I get to experience another city and culture while I'm earning my college degree. I've also traveled to other European cities including Amsterdam. KCC has opened the door to an unforgettable international experience." After she earns her Associate in Arts degree, Tammy plans to complete a bachelor's degree in international relations. Her fall semester abroad was partially funded with a scholarship from the KCC Foundation. |

Rich Schiltzof Bradley enrolled at KCC after seven years in the U.S. Navy. "There are several reasons why I chose to attend a community college," Rich said. "Location, convenience, class size, personal attention, more interaction with instructors and my ability to complete the necessary requirements all come to mind. I needed a place that had a smaller enrollment, someplace that was more concerned with me as an individual." |

Jaclyn Lambertof Sheldon has been very involved at KCC. Jaclyn was a member of KCC's softball team her freshman year, she is a member of the Student Advisory Council (student government), she participates in the TRiO Student Support Services program, and she is a member of Phi Theta Kappa honor society. Jaclyn wasn't sure where to go after high school, so she chose KCC to help her find a career path right for her. "I am paying for my own education, so cost was a large factor in my decision to attend a community college," Jaclyn said. In addition to taking advantage of the low tuition at KCC, Jaclyn also is the recipient of the George F. Kreider Memorial Scholarship. |

Amy Hansena senior at Eastern Illinois University majoring in mathematics, with secondary teacher certification. Amy will graduate from Eastern in May. "KCC is a great alternative to going to a four-year university right away," said Amy, a Clifton Central graduate. "I still had the college experience at KCC and I saved enough money to finance my junior year of college on my own. I also lived at home knowing that many of my friends would also attend KCC. With help from the transfer coordinator, all of my KCC classes transferred without any problems." |

Ron Jones Jr.a 2000 graduate of Kankakee High School, excelled both academically and athletically at KCC. Ron was a shooting guard on the basketball team and a starting pitcher for the baseball team the past two years. Ron averaged 14 points per game and shot 78 percent from the free throw line during the 2001-02 season, helping the Cavaliers win a Region IV championship. He is the second leading three-point shooter in Cavalier history, with 176 treys in his career. In baseball, he finished with a career record of five wins and one loss as a starting pitcher, garnering an overall ERA of 4.22 His sophomore year, Ron was named an Academic All-American, with a 3.79 grade point average. His academic achievements also include being selected for Phi Theta Kappa, the international honor society for community college students. Currently, Ron is attending Southern Illinois University–Edwardsville, where he is the basketball team's leading scorer, averaging 15.3 points per game. |

Nate Whitneya 2000 graduate of Normal West High School in Normal, also had a great academic and athletic career while at KCC. Nate was a two-year starting left fielder for the Cavalier baseball team, and batted .390 over his career. He also tied a single season record for doubles, with 19 in his sophomore season. The record books also show Nate as a top 10 player in nine different offensive categories. Nate also is a member of Phi Theta Kappa, the international honor society for community college students. His overall KCC grade point average after two years was 3.57. In 2002, Nate was selected by fellow students as King of KCC's annual Winter Ball. Currently, he is attending Illinois State University in Normal, where he will play his first season this spring for the college's baseball squad. |
