On-campus Counseling

Life is full of challenges - but you don’t have to go at it alone!

Transformative Growth Counseling provides personal counseling services for KCC students and staff. If you are struggling with any stressors, counselors are available by appointment on Tuesdays. To make an appointment, visit the website, phone 630‑731-2125 or email

Counseling is confidential. The first five sessions are free for enrolled KCC students. For long-term-treatment, we accept insurance, self-pay and sliding scale.

The therapist at KCC, Stephanie Ochoa, is enthusiastic and eager to become a part of your support team! She is passionate about working with individuals and couples to promote positive personal growth, improve communication and help bring personal and interpersonal awareness to her clients. Working together during your tough situations, you will be able to strengthen skills that can be used during your day-to-day life.

Creating a safe space is essential to supporting your individual and relational well-being. In your sessions with Ochoa, you will be able to explore where you stand, not only related to your problems but to appreciate your virtues, as well. Ochoa has a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Aurora University (2017) and a master’s degree in social work (2019). She completed an internship at Transformative Growth Counseling and has joined its staff full time as a therapist, social worker and program supervisor. Ochoa is fluent in Spanish and English.

For Kankakee/Iroquois county resources related to mental health, substance abuse, family issues, legal issues, health care, emergency and disaster services, or aging.

Make the Connection - Veteran support services
Launched in 2011, connects veterans, their family members and friends, and other advocates with mental health information, local resources, and inspiring stories of recovery. Visitors can find reliable information on how to cope with challenges such as posttraumatic stress disorder, traumatic brain injury, military sexual trauma, and transitioning from service. The site is free and accessible to everyone.

Suicide Prevention

Depression and Bipolar Support Alliance
Offers information on depression and bipolar disorder as well as listings to patient support groups across the U.S.

Catholic Charities
Catholic Charities Counseling Services provides outpatient counseling to residents of DuPage, Will, Grundy, Kendall, Kankakee, Ford and Iroquois counties. Offices are located in Lombard, Joliet, Morris and Bourbonnais. Individual, group, family, and couples therapy are provided, in addition to specialized services such as anger management groups and preventative education programs.

Riverside Behavioral Health Services
Offers extensive programs and services for mental health and alcohol/substance abuse treatment within the region. Riverside provides treatment for a wide range of disorders and tailors care specifically for children, adolescents, adults, and seniors, allowing patients to discover, learn, grow, and recover in a supportive, secure environment.

Presence St. Mary's Hospital
A cohesive team of psychiatrists, psychologists, and therapists comprise the Behavioral Health Network. These professionals provide a variety of outpatient services for adolescents to adults, in both individual and family settings. With close to 70 years of combined experience, our professionals have the knowledge, skills, and compassion to assist clients on their personal paths to wellness.

Poison Control
The American Association of Poison Control Centers supports the nation’s 57 poison centers in their efforts to prevent and treat poison exposures. Poison centers offer free, confidential medical advice 24 hours a day, seven days a week through the Poison Help Line.

Planned Parenthood
A trusted health care provider, an informed educator and a passionate advocate. Planned Parenthood's 17 health centers in the state deliver vital health care services, sex education, and sexual health information to more than 60,000 women and families each year.

Ambrosia Addiction Recovery

HopeTracker is a free 10-session crash course on alcohol and drug addiction which contains a social community where individuals can get help while remaining anonymous. It also features information for families​. is a community organization dedicated to empowering people suffering from substance abuse addiction with tools and resources to start their personal journey toward recovery.
