You can join the Fitness Center as a member or as a 1-credit college class. Both options give you full access to all workout equipment and facilities. The main difference is that the credit option can be used toward a college degree.

Policies & conduct for students
Register and pay in KCC’s Student Affairs Division on the Riverfront Campus, 100 College Drive, Kankakee.
First-time Personal Fitness students must complete an assessment and orientation before using the Fitness Center. Schedule yours by calling 815-802-8610. Sessions typically begin about a week before the semester.
Students must start their Fitness Center workouts within the first week of the semester to stay enrolled.
During the 60-minute orientation, staff record basic measurements, review resting heart rate and body composition, provide a facility and locker-room tour, and explain how to use the 21 Life Fitness cable-assisted machines.
The orientation counts toward the student’s Fitness Center grade.
Grades are based on exercise time completed during the semester.
- Pass/Fail: 20 hours or more to pass.
- A: 25 hours or more
- B: 22–24:59 hours
- C: 20–21:59 hours
- D: 17–19:59 hours
- F: 16:59 hours or less
Parking
Park only in designated spaces. If there is overflow, use the parking lot across from the softball field. Two spaces are marked for staff.
Locker rooms
Day-use shelves and lockers are available. Bring your own lock and empty lockers daily. Showers are available; towels are not provided.
Equipment wipe-down
Use the provided spray and towels after using each machine. Do not spray digital display panels directly.
Weight-room safety
- Allow others to work in between sets.
- Re-rack weights and return benches.
- Do not slam or drop weights.
- Use collars and a spotter.
- Report damaged equipment immediately.
Dress code
- Wear athletic clothing and clean, dry gym shoes.
- Shirts must cover the chest, back and lower torso.
- No bare feet, sandals, open-toe or open-back shoes.
Cell phones
Cell phones are not permitted in the Fitness Center or locker rooms. Exit the facility to take a call.
Music
Music is permitted with headphones.
Courteous behavior
Profanity, loitering and distracting others are not permitted. No food or drink is allowed, except for water.
ID sharing and cheating
ID sharing and misrepresentation of activity time are prohibited and may result in removal, administrative withdrawal or a failing grade.
Membership
Membership begins when payment is received. Monthly and annual options are available. Register and pay in the Fitness Center. The KCC Accounting Office (second floor, near Student Affairs) also accepts Fitness Center payments.

Personal training & fitness assessments
Personal trainers help members clarify goals, use equipment safely and make workouts more effective. Sessions are one hour and may include up to three participants.
